J&C Oyster Review
J&C Oyster is a fantastic restaurant in Hollywood Florida serving a Seafood-driven menu using Asian techniques & ingredients. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is bright and the servers are warm & welcoming! We were able to try several menu items during our visit and we are already planning our return because the food was THAT GOOD.
PYT – ketel one, sakura, rose, citrus
This may just be my dream drink. 😍 A thick foam floats on a perfectly pink cocktail, topped with flower petals that waft an intoxicating rose scent with every sip. If you love sweet floral cocktails (especially rose or cherry blossom) this drink is for you!
Confit Tuna – garlic & lemongrass infused olive oil, escabeche peppers, wonton chips
Sweet pickled peppers sit atop sliced tuna confit. The crispy wonton chips added the perfect crunch and tasted so good soaked in the garlic & lemongrass olive oil.
Hamachi – white ponzu, serrano, garlic oil
The hamachi was so savory with the perfect serrano kick! Fold in half to eat and it’s the perfect pocket of flavors! This was one of our favorite dishes, and it’s perfectly sharable so we’ll be getting this one again, every time we come.
Steak Tartare – truffle mayo, oori’s milk bread, parmesan
Starting with first impressions, I have to say this is probably the prettiest plate of steak tartare I have ever seen! The mound of steak meat was coated in a thick layer of finely shredded parmesan cheese, then topped beautifully with pink flowers. The bread was like the fanciest Texas Toast ever and the notes of truffle in the mayo made this dish extra delicious!
Pork Belly – bibb lettuce, pickles, green chili vinaigrette
This dish is a build-your-own pork belly lettuce wrap experience. The lettuce was soft yet hardy, ideal for building. The pork belly was so tender, it would fall apart in your mouth with each bite. The dry rub on the meat alone was amazing, but they also provided a spicy green chili vinaigrette to pour onto your lettuce wrap. The “pickles” were pickled veggies like carrots and green tomatoes, and they added the perfect flavor to the pork belly wraps.
Fried Chicken – togarashi brined, chili butter, house-made bbq sauce, pickles
This fried chicken is FIRE- and it all starts with the togarashi brine! J&C Oyster perfected this Japanese spice blend! Each chicken tender was super flavorful with a perfectly crispy outside and a juicy inside. These were amazing on their own- but they also came with TWO dipping sauces! Angela loved the chili butter with its savory kick, while Jules was a fan of their sweet and tangy house made bbq sauce.
Lobster Roll – aromatic butter poached, house-made chips, lime
This lobster is poached in butter and loaded onto a mayo’d up roll! It’s served with a side of house-made chips.
S’mores Dessert
By now, I think you already know we love s’mores so when we saw this on the dessert menu, it was a no-brainer! A graham cracker crust creates the crumbly base of this dessert, adding a cinnamon flavor and soft-grit sugar texture. The brownie-like middle layer was similar to a lava cake, as you could see some melted chocolate dripping out the sides and puddling on the plate. The chocolatey cake was topped with piped marshmallow fluff that was lightly torched to brown! Cinnamony, chocolatey, gooey, goodness!
